Dubai families are not working to one school-transfer deadline. KHDA's 2026-27 page lists 6 dated checkpoints for April-start schools and 8 for September-start schools, while current school pages publish their own admissions windows and year-group status; the calendar therefore has to be built in two layers (KHDA, page updated 1 May 2026).
The Dubai school shortlist for relocating families is the cluster starting point. This companion does a narrower job: it turns regulator dates, placement rules and three school-owned pages into a transfer evidence calendar. It does not rank schools or treat a current waiting list as a judgement about a school.
Start with the correct regulator calendar
The first decision is calendar family, not school ranking. KHDA's parent guide says Indian, Pakistani and Japanese curriculum schools run from April to March, while other curricula begin in September and end in June or July (KHDA Guide for Parents, accessed 28 September 2026).
KHDA's calendar page then supplies the dated regulator framework. The April-start table has 6 listed checkpoints and a minimum of 182 school days. The September-start table has 8 listed checkpoints and a minimum of 185 school days, a difference of 3 minimum days. These are returned regulator values and counted rows, not an estimate of attendance at a particular school.
The April regulator span runs 344 to 360 calendar days inclusive because KHDA gives an end range. The September span runs 306 calendar days inclusive. Those spans describe calendar endpoints, not teaching-day totals. Public holidays and the named school's approved calendar still need their own current record.

Add the named school's own record
The regulator calendar does not establish one application deadline. The three first-party examples below show why: one school publishes an April-start term calendar, one publishes a 30-day admissions window with narrow applicant categories, and one publishes a live year-group status table.
The Indian High School Al Garhoud page lists 6 April, 6 July, 31 August, 14 December, 4 January and 22 March as its six checkpoints. Its 6 April 2026 to 22 March 2027 span is 351 calendar days inclusive. The final date sits inside KHDA's 15-31 March regulator range, but it remains the named campus's date.
JESS's page was still inside its labelled 1-30 September window when checked on 28 September. The page limits the listed routes to corporate debenture holders, Emirati applicants, FS1 and Year 7 siblings, and limited Year 9 waiting-list places, with its own year restrictions. A date window without the applicant category would misstate the record.
Dubai British School Jumeirah Park shows a different kind of calendar evidence. Among the 12 Year 1-12 rows for 2026-27, Years 3, 4, 5, 9 and 12 were marked Waiting list; the other 7 were Closed. The same page says only open or waiting-list year groups are considered and gives a separate rule for secondary applications in Terms 2 and 3. These statuses can change, which is why the source date belongs beside the count.
The comparison is about record type, not school quality. IHS supplies term checkpoints, JESS supplies a time-bounded admissions route, and DBSJP supplies a capacity-status matrix. A family needs the record that matches the exact campus, year group and intended start.
Let age or the transfer certificate control placement
KHDA's 2026-27 placement FAQ makes the dividing line clear. Age is the primary and overriding rule from Pre-KG through KG2, or FS1 through Year 1. From Grade 1, equivalent to Year 2, the transfer certificate is the primary placement reference (KHDA Student Placement Guidelines FAQ, accessed 28 September 2026).
The FAQ also describes a one-time 2026-27 transition for qualifying children born from 1 September through 31 December 2022 who are registering in the KHDA system for the first time. It expressly excludes children already enrolled in a Dubai school or nursery and children transferring within Dubai. The more detailed school starting-age guide keeps that cohort rule separate from an ordinary transfer.
KHDA's parent guide adds the document route. For a transfer within Dubai, the current school provides the transfer certificate and ensures KHDA verification. For admission above Grade 1, evidence of previous schooling must be in Arabic or English; where originals use another language, the guide says the translation should be authenticated by a legal translator. That is a document-language rule, not an admissions outcome.
Build one document checkpoint file
The transfer file works when each fact has a named source, a record level and a check date. A school brand, a particular campus, a year group and a regulator rule are different records.
Fix the campus and calendar
Record the exact school campus and whether its curriculum follows the April-start or September-start track. Save the current school calendar beside the KHDA regulator page.
Fix the placement label
Write the child's date of birth, current grade or year label and intended Dubai grade or year. Use the age rule for the early years and the TC grade from Grade 1 or Year 2 upward.
Collect the transfer record
For a move within Dubai, request the transfer certificate through the current school. Keep the KHDA verification status with the document rather than treating an application receipt as the placement record.
Check language and completeness
For entry above Grade 1, confirm that previous-school evidence is in Arabic or English. Save the authenticated translation where the original uses another language.
Capture the live admissions state
Save the named school's application window, exact year-group status and access date. “Open”, “Waiting list” and “Closed” are distinct returned fields.
Recheck before the start date
Open the school calendar and admissions page again before relying on them. A term date, waiting-list state or next-update date belongs to that source state, not to every Dubai school.

The 2026-27 school-fee worksheet is a separate file. It compares money and required supplies only after the same year group and calendar have been fixed. Keeping timing, placement and fees in separate rows prevents one correct number from hiding a mismatched campus or year.
What this calendar proves
This comparison proves that KHDA sets two regulator calendars and a placement framework, while named schools publish different operational records. It does not prove that a place is available, that an application will be accepted, or that a current status will remain unchanged.
The central answer stays simple: there is no single Dubai-wide school-transfer deadline on the cited KHDA pages. Start with the regulator calendar, then attach the exact school's current dates and the placement document that applies to the child.
FAQ, checked 28 September 2026
Is there one Dubai school admissions deadline for 2026-27?
No. KHDA publishes the two academic-calendar frameworks, while named schools publish their own admissions windows, year-group status and campus dates. The three school records checked here do not share one application deadline.
Do all Dubai private schools start in September?
No. KHDA's parent guide says Indian, Pakistani and Japanese curriculum schools run April to March. Other curricula begin in September and end in June or July.
Does a child transferring within Dubai need a transfer certificate?
Yes. KHDA's parent guide says a transfer within Dubai needs a transfer certificate from the child's school, with KHDA verification. For Grade 1 or Year 2 and above, the 2026-27 placement FAQ makes the TC grade the primary placement reference.
How are mid-year Dubai school transfers placed?
KHDA says the same age and grade rules apply mid-year. Early-years placement follows the age chart, while Grade 1 or Year 2 and above follows the TC grade; a divergence or exceptional placement goes through the school and KHDA process described in the FAQ.
